The electrode (15) is manufactured from high temperature resistant metal, in particular tungsten, rhenium or alloys of these materials. The electrode has a one-peice shank (16) with a given diameter D2 and a head with the maximum diameter D1, which corresponds to at least 1.25 times the shank diameter.
