The device has a gyroscope (12) connected with a main conveying path (14), via which articles are conveyed. A transferring unit (18) is provided in the gyroscope and connects two exchange points (20, 22). Scanners are provided relative to the exchange points for reading the barcode information provided in the articles. The transferring unit exchanges the articles to be sorted between the two points based on the read barcode information. An independent claim is also included for an unordered containers sorting device in a commissioning system.
