Manhole cover (2) consists of a manhole lid (3) and a frame (4) with a manhole lid support (5), which at its boundary region (6), during normal usage in closing position, is laterally covered by means of manhole lid. At the subrange of the frame, vertically along the sidewall (1) of manhole, a guide tube (7) is fastened, which has a bottom part (8) at its end that is opposite to the manhole lid. Spindle drive (9) is arranged inside the guide tube to lift the manhole lid. The spindle drive consists of a threaded spindle (11) extended parallel to the longitudinal axis (10) of the guide tube, whose first end (12) is supported at the bottom part of the guide tube and whose second end (13), facing the manhole is configured to rotate, and is accessible through an opening of the manhole cover with a suitable operating tool. The threaded spindle mates with the thread (15) of tubular formed spindle nut (16) connected with the manhole lid, whose outer side (17) rests against the inner wall (18) of the guide tube, so that if manhole lid is located above the boundary region of the frame then the manhole lid can be raised by turning of the threaded spindle over the boundary region of the frame, and is tiltable around the longitudinal axis of the threaded spindle.
