A tandem roller for e.g. road construction has two rollers (12, 14) linked by a chassis (29). Each roller is a two-part unit, each split along an individual line (26, 27) providing the chassis attachment point and forming a gap between the left and right halves of the roller. The gaps (26, 27) are not in-line with each other.
