A heavy duty sieve is produced by a number of corrugates metal strips (8) set edge on to the sieve plane and with the strip profiles touching each other (12) and forming sieve apertures (4). The selection of strip shape and thickness determines the filter flow rate and mechanical support. The strip is typically stainless steel with a thickness of between 0.5 and 1 mm and with a profile length of between 2 and 5 mm.
