The invention relates to a method for producing a friction lining carrier (10) whose carrier surface (12) for the friction lining is provided with a plurality of prominent teeth, chips (14) or the like that are integrally cut out from the carrier surface (12) by means of a tool (18) that comprises blades or teeth (16). The carrier surface (12) is curved in the form of the surface of a regular cylinder (20) and extends radially across an arc of a full circle and axially in the direction of a center axis (24) or rotational axis (22). The tool (18) is configured substantially symmetrical to a rotational axis (22) and rolls off on the carrier surface (12) with its outer circumference. The tool (18) and the friction lining carrier (10) are set into respective rotational motions having opposite senses of rotation (26, 28). The invention also relates to a device for carrying out the method and to a brake lining carrier produced by said method.
