A protective shield for use by police etc., comprises a shield (1), at least one reinforcing element for the shield central regions (19), and shaped support and holding elements (8) for use on the lower arm of the shield user. An additional shield (2) approximately the size of the central shield area, is fixed on the shield outer surface. The holding element fixings (4) pass through the shield. The additional shield consists of metal, especially aluminium. The shield stiffener is also made of aluminium. The support elements preferably consist of a PU-foam.
