The method involves measuring the force-displacement characteristic whilst fixing a crimp connector part (26) between two mutually relatively movable tool parts (18,24) when moving the tool parts together onto a cable end. The measured data are compared with stored desired data. The tool has a data medium (36) for tool-specific desired data for comparison with the measured data. Independent claims are also included for a crimping tool and a crimping arrangement.
