A method for the identification of species of the genus iEimeria/i (commonly known as coccidia) is described. The method is genus-specific and utilises either, or both, of two novel primer sets, or annealing equivalents thereof; designated SEQ ID NO: 25 and SEQ ID NO: 26, and SEQ ID NO: 27 and SEQ ID NO: 28.
