A method for the production of cable sheathing by extrusion and crosslinking of a mixture of thermoplastic polymer, silane compound and free radical generator, in which a secondary amine compound is incorporated during the mixing process and crosslinking is carried out in the ambient atmosphere. A method for the production of cable sheathing by extrusion and crosslinking of a composition based on a silane-grafted polymer involves: (d) mixing (i) thermoplastic polymer(s) with (ii) a first silane compound and (iii) a free-radical generator, (e) extruding this mixture over a cable and (f) crosslinking the resulting sheath. A compound with a secondary amino group is incorporated during the mixing process and crosslinking is carried out in the ambient atmosphere. An Independent claim is also included for electrical or optical cable with an extruded sheath obtained by this method.
