A new composition (A), in aqueous solution or dispersion form, comprises (by weight): 1-50% (poly)oxyalkylenated alcohol or amine derivative(s) (I); 1-50% (un)saturated 7-21C aliphatic carboxylic acid(s) (II), provided that the weight ratio of (I) to (II) is 1-10; 0-25% aliphatic polyol (as water-soluble solvent); and water to 100%. A new composition (A), in aqueous solution or dispersion form, comprises (by weight): (1) 1-50% (poly)oxyalkylene compound(s) of formula RX-((OP) a-(OE) b-(OP) c-(OE) d-Y) n (I); (2) 1-50% carboxylic acid(s) of formula R'COOH (II), provided that the weight ratio of (I) to (II) is 1-10 (preferably 1.5-5); (3) 0-25% aliphatic polyol (as water-soluble solvent); and (4) water to 100%. R : 6-14C (preferably 8-12C) linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated aliphatic group X : O and n = 1 or X = N and n = 2 OE : ethyleneoxy of formula CH 2CH 2O OP : propyleneoxy of formula CH 2CH(Me)O or CH(Me)CH 2O a, b, c, d : 0-50, provided that (a + b + c + d) = 1-50 Y : H, 1-8C alkyl, benzyl or butylene oxide group R' : optionally unsaturated 7-21C (preferably 11-19C) alkyl.
