The device has a reactor (1) placed in downstream of a power generation plant to recombine hydrogen and oxygen from the plant, to produce water. A wet gas containing nitrogen and oxygen, at the output of the reactor, flows to an extraction and separation unit (2) placed in downstream of the reactor to separate the nitrogen from the oxygen. A recovery unit recovers thermal energy produced by the recombination of hydrogen and oxygen.
