Use of pyroglutamic acid (I) for manufacturing a cosmetic/dermatologic composition (II), which stimulates the epidermal differentiation to reinforce, preserve and or restore the epidermal barrier of the skin. INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for a cosmetic treatment comprising applying (I) (in the form of cosmetic composition) on the zone of skin and/or concerned appendages for stimulating the epidermal differentiation (preferably for stimulating the synthesis of lipids). ACTIVITY : Antiallergic; Immunosuppressive. MECHANISM OF ACTION : Ceramide synthesis inhibitor.
