The method involves cutting a periodic set of adjacent bands (1a, 2a, 1b, 2b) in a support. The bands are placed along an elementary pattern constituted by two consecutive bands (1a, 2a) that are symmetric with respect to center of a folding segment (3a) defined by intersection of a folding axis (Aa) with the bands (1a, 2a). Successive foldings of the set are carried out around folding axes (Aa, A, Ab). Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a helical spring (B) a steering assembly of a vehicle.
