The system has software and hardware tools assisting characterization and classification of know-hows of a product based on processes, products and groups of role-players of a community of interests. The tools create a database containing information supplied from know-how descriptive files (3). The characterization, classification and search are carried out based on a cartography (5) of standard knowledge customizable to the community. The software and hardware tools search particular information from stored information by selecting the processes, and/or products and/or groups of role-players of the community of interests.
