The applicator, designed to press upper rollers (1) of a cable cracking machine against its lower rollers (2), consists of a pneumatic cylinder (13) for each upper roller, having one end fixed to the machine frame (8), and the other connected to a lever (9) that transmits the pressure to an upper roller. The pneumatic cylinder can be made up of two rigid flanges (13a, 13b) connected by an elastic membrane (13c) that applies a constant force over a limited course, or it can be a conventional pneumatic cylinder with a rod. Each of the upper rollers is also equipped with a lifter in the form of a pneumatic cylinder, rod cylinder or spring.
