The method involves encoding a standard definition (SD) format image for parts common to a zoomed low resolution image by taking into account of the zoomed image as prediction image for residue calculation, for providing an encoded data to an upper layer of an encoded data stream. The image is encoded for a part non-common to the zoomed image for providing data complementary to the upper layer of the data stream. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a hierarchical data stream for encoding a video image (B) a method for decoding a structured digital data stream.
