The device has a locking unit, an electric motor (3) and a transmission (2) constituted of a screw (5) and a worm wheel (6) and provided between the motor and unit. A torsion spring (7) connects a motor shaft (8) of the motor and the screw (5), for transmitting rotation of the motor shaft to the screw through the spring. The worm wheel is made as the body of the locking unit. An independent claim is also included for a parking brake comprising a locking device.
