The device has a unit for changing direction of displacement of drive cables (4, 5) disposed on path of the cables between a gear shift lever (1) and a transmission. The cables are driven in opposite direction by steering racks (8, 9) and a counter gear (11) of the unit. The counter gear is connected to the cables by sheaths (6, 7) along a direction of the transmission.
