The device has a cylindrical tube (4`) presenting an axial direction (10) and formed of transparent material so that a meniscus (7) of a metallic product (3) is observed visually or using a camera. The meniscus is formed on a metallic surface (20) of an object (2) by fusion of predetermined quantity of the product on the surface. The object is placed on a lower support (50) forming or comprising an object temperature measurement unit. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) an utilization of a device for controlling the wettability of a metallic surface of an object (B) a method for measuring the wettability of a metallic surface of an object.
