The method involves measuring local movements on the edges of images and estimating parameters of a global movement model in utilizing the result of the measurement of the local movements. Local movements are calculated utilizing the estimated parameters. The measured movements are compared with calculated local movements to determine whether the estimated parameters coincide in a partial manner with the measured local movements. An independent claim is also included for a video image acquiring device having a video imager.
