The ceramic body (1), comprising an outer peripheral wall (2) and inner partitions (3) forming a honeycomb structure, has an A/B ratio of between 0.80 and 1.25 : 1, where A and B represent the degrees of orientatiion of the cordierite ceramic crystals in the partitions and outer wall respectively. The body is made with a diameter of between 50 and 400 mm, and the difference between maximum and minimum measurements of its outer wall diameter in the middle and at its two ends is no more than 2.5 per cent.
