The train has a rotating electrical machine (6) fixed relatively to an assembly comprising a heat engine (1) and a gear box transmission (5) outside the transmission, and coupled to a flywheel (10) by a driving belt (19) and pulleys (20, 21). The machine is positioned below the engine. The flywheel is mounted in rotation in a clutch housing (7) coaxially to an input shaft (4) of the transmission. The flywheel is coupled or decoupled from the shaft by a clutch (13).
