The method involves extending a sleeve (3) crossed by its wire puller (4) on the ground in an unrolled position, and attaching an end of the wire puller on a rotating support (5) fixed with respect to the ground. A wire or cable (2) is attached to another end of the wire puller. An end of the sleeve at a side of the puller`s end is fixedly maintained with respect to the ground, where the puller is attached to the wire or cable. The rotation of the support is controlled to cause the rolling of the puller on the support after the wire or cable is passed in the sleeve. An independent claim is also included for a portable device for assisting the passage of a wire or cable in a sleeve.
