Method for pulling up a single crystal from melt solution in a crucible, involves pulling the single crystal from the melt solution on a wire cable wound on a drum while rotating the wire cable about the rotation axis of a wire cable rotation head at pressure lower than atmospheric pressure, and rotating the crucible about the rotation axis of a crucible shaft which supports the crucible for active attenuation of the pendulum motion of the wire cable. An independent claim is included for an apparatus for pulling up a single crystal from melt solution.
