The membrane has a thin polymer film, and a thin metallic layer surmounted with a thin layer for protection against corrosion. The membrane has a permeability to water vapor varying according to the relative hygroscopic moisture, and a normal emissivity at 283 K according to the EN 12898 standard lower than 5 percent. The permeability to water vapor, measured according to the ASTM E 96 standard, is less than or equal to 3 Perms for a relative moisture of 25 percent and greater than or equal to 5 Perms for a relative moisture of 75 percent. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an insulating material covered on the sides of a vapor-barrier membrane (2) a method for obtaining a vapor-barrier membrane (3) a method for the construction or renovation of a building by the application of a vapor-barrier membrane.
