The method involves etching a body of a plastic support by a laser beam (102) across the thickness of a covering sheet of the support. The support is laminated during or after the marking with the laser to reduce or avoid the deformations of the sheet resulting from the etching. The lamination is carried out by static or dynamic laminating rollers. An independent claim is also included for a support marking installation.
