Video, audio and still image capture system for operation in extreme environments with remote, wired, detachable and interchangeable camera unit

A video, audio and still image capture system allowing hands-free operation comprises main console A and separate camera unit B. The camera unit is provided with an integrated microphone, and is connected to the main console via detachable cable C. Cable C serves to convey image and audio data to the main console, and provide power to the camera. The camera unit may be attached to the head or helmet of the user, or to the platform on which the user may be operating or traveling upon. The main console may be connected to a computer for downloading and uploading video, audio and image files, and for recharging its integral power system. Recharging may also be achieved via a DC power source. The system is configured to be physically robust and water-resistant for use in extreme environments.
