摘要
A computed tomography (CT) scan image, such as a medical image, is processed using a filter so that abnormality features are enhanced and other features are obscured or blocked. The enhanced CT scan image 12 is then displayed simultaneously side by side, or alternately, with the original, unmodified CT image 10, allowing image comparison. The type of image enhancement filter may be selected by a user interface 30, allowing filter parameters such as nodule size and intensity to be set, and for the removal of cylindrical shapes such as blood vessels - see Figure 4. An edge enhancement filter may be used, for example on a lung image, or a sphericity filter may be applied to enhance spherical image features, for example in a colon wall image. A blur filter can be used to smooth background image noise.
