PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multifunctional organic alkali metal initiator for the preparation of various kinds of star polymers by anionic polymerization, the use of the initiator for synthesizing a star polymer and the resulting polymer.;SOLUTION: The initiator is represented by the formula: Ma(RMe)b, wherein M is selected from Sn, Ti, Al, Si and/or B; R is a hydrocarbon group containing 8-100 carbon atoms, a is 1-3, b is 2.5-6.5, and Me is an alkali metal selected from Na and Li. The initiator is synthesized by reacting an organic alkali metal with a conjugated diene and/or a mono-olefin monomer, and then adding a hetero atom- containing halide. The polymer obtained has a radial molecular structure consisting of a plurality of macromolecular chain arms radiating from the initiator core, and its molecular weight distribution expressed by GPC represents a uniform singlet.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
