PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rapidly and accurately confirm the effects of a papermaking chemical such as a yield improving agent, drainage improving agent, coagulant, pitch controlling agent which are added to water in a papermaking process, such as raw material slurry for paper or slurry in an inlet of the papermaking process, and properly controlling injection rate of the papermaking chemicals based on the monitoring result.;SOLUTION: The scattered light intensity scattered by particles in a fluid to be measured is obtained by defining papermaking process water or its diluted water before and after adding chemicals as the fluid to be measured and irradiating the fluid to be measured with a laser light. Information on the particle diameter and the turbidity information on the particles in the fluid to be measured is obtained based on the scattered light intensity data, and the effect of the papermaking chemicals is monitored by comparing the information on the particle diameter and the turbidity before and after addition of the chemicals. The injection rate of the papermaking chemicals is controlled based on the result of comparison of the particle diameter and turbidity before and after addition of the chemicals.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
