PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a primer sequence capable of sensitively and specifically detecting diphtheria toxin gene by LAMP method, a method for detecting diphtheria toxin gene by using the primer sequence and a kit for the detection of diphtheria toxin gene by using the primer sequence. PSOLUTION: The method for detecting diphtheria toxin gene in a specimen comprises the preparation of a primer set capable of amplifying at least a part of diphtheria toxin gene by LAMP method, the extraction of a DNA from a specimen, the amplification of the extracted DNA by LAMP method to use the primer set, and the confirmation of the presence of the amplified DNA in the amplification product. The invention further provides a primer set containing four DNAs having specific base sequences shown in a sequence table and usable for the detection of a diphtheria toxin gene in the bacterial cell in the specimen by LAMP method, and a primer set containing other specific base sequences shown in a sequence table in addition to the above sequences.
