PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting a Clostridium difficile toxin B gene by which the diagnosis of infectious disease caused by a both toxin-positive strain and a toxin A-negative and toxin B-positive strain is readily and rapidly carried out, and to provide a technique usable therefor. PSOLUTION: The method for detecting the Clostridium difficile toxin B gene contained in a microbial cell of a specimen comprises preparing a specific primer set capable of amplifying at least a part of the toxin B of the Clostridium difficile by a LAMP method, extracting a DNA from the microbial cell contained in the specimen without culturing the microbial cell, or culturing the microbial cell contained in the specimen and extracting the DNA from the cultured microbial cell, subjecting the extracted DNA to an amplification operation by the LAMP method using the primer set, and confirming the presence or absence of the amplified DNA in the product after the amplification operation.
