METHOD FOR JUDGING MALIGNANT TUMOR INCLUDING NEPHROCYTE CANCER WITH METHYLATION OF HOXB 13 GENE

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for judging the presence or absence of malignant tumor including nephrocyte cancer and the extent of the tumor; to provide a diagnostic agent capable of being effectively used for the judgment; to provide an anti-tumor agent which can inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells and can effectively be used to prevent or treat malignant tumors; and to provide a method for screening an anti-tumor substance effective for the treatments of malignant tumors including nephrocyte cancer. PSOLUTION: This method for judging the malignant tumor comprises measuring methylation frequency of HOXB 13 gene, especially CpG island, of a mammal or a correlation value thereof. The diagnostic agent contains a primer pair capable of detecting the methylation of the CpG island as an active ingredient.
