POLYMER LATEX AND COATING COMPOSITION FOR INKJET RECORDING MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating composition for an inkjet recording medium, which is excellent in surface strength, water resistance and ink acceptability during inkjet printing and which is used for forming an ink accepting layer bringing about clear printed matter, a polymer latex which is suitable for a binder constituting the coating composition, and the inkjet recording medium made by coating a substrate with the coating composition.;SOLUTION: The latex is obtained by polymerizing a monomer in the presence of a neutralizer of an alkaline soluble copolymer. The polymer latex for the inkjet recording medium is characterized in that the alkaline soluble copolymer is a water-soluble polymer which comprises a cationic group, an anionic group and an alcoholic hydroxyl group.
