PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating composition for an inkjet recording medium for forming an ink receiving layer which is excellent in surface strength and water-resistant surface strength, has a high ink density when inkjet printing is performed, can obtain a clear printed matter, and is also excellent in weatherability, a polymer latex suitable for a binder constituting the coating composition, and an inkjet recording medium prepared by coating a substrate with the coating composition.;SOLUTION: The polymer latex for the inkjet recording medium is characterized in that an aliphatic conjugated diene monomer unit, an ethylene unsaturated nitrile monomer unit, an aromatic vinyl monomer unit, and another monomer unit copolymerizable with them are respectively incorporated with specified amounts, and a specified amount of water-soluble polymer compound is bound or adsorbed with the polymer.
