PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique where a cast iron sintered material having excellent vibration damping capacity can be obtained utilizing inexpensive, easily obtainable cast iron machined chips without using expensive equipment and applying expensive treatment means in particular.;SOLUTION: In this production method, an aggregate of machined chips consisting mainly of cast iron particulate with a particle diameter of ≤840 μm obtained from the machined chips of cast iron is consolidated, and then heated at 1,000 to 1,160°C in a hydrogen-containing reducing atmosphere, and further pressurized under the pressure of 200 to 800 MPa, to be sintered, and then cooled, so as to control its density to the range of 4.5 to 6 g/cm3.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
