HEAT-RESISTANT ENZYME HAVING SUGAR NUCLEOTIDE SYNTHESIS ACTIVITY AND PHOSPHATED SUGAR ISOMERIZATION ACTIVITY

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To newly provide an enzyme protein which is heat-resistant, has wide substrate specificity, and has sugar nucleotide synthesis activity and phosphated sugar isomerization activity, and to stably synthesize a phosphated sugar isomer and a sugar nucleotide which is a substrate for synthesizing sugar chains. PSOLUTION: The gene of an enzyme having sugar nucleotide synthesis activity and phosphated sugar isomerization activity has been found from the genome of ultra thermophilic archaebacterium: Pyrococcus horikoshii OT3. The gene is used to produce an enzyme protein having sugar nucleotide synthesis activity and phosphated sugar isomerization activity by a genetic engineering means, and the enzyme protein is used to stably synthesize the sugar nucleotide and the phosphated sugar isomer.
