PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a culture condition for inducing a multiple bud callus derived from apical meristem for establishing an efficient and stable culture system for cogon relating to the multiple bud induction and its breeding utilization of cogon and achieving the redifferentiation of the plant body and provide a method for preparing a mutant by heavy ion bombardment of the multiple bud.;SOLUTION: A multiple bud callus is induced by inoculating an apical meristem extracted from cogon on an agar medium produced by using MS medium as a base medium and adding 2,4-D in combination with BAP as phytohormones for the callus induction. The induced multiple bud callus is bombarded with heavy ion beam. A dwarf cogon is prepared by transplanting a selected plant body redifferentiated from the multiple bud callus to a plastic pot filled with burnt soil and Bora soil (air-permeable soil derived from pumice) at a ratio of 2:1, and growing the plant under proper irrigation.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
