PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a breathing state monitoring device which reduces the size and the cost and is operated easily, and a breathing state monitoring system. PSOLUTION: When a breathing sensor 1 is mounted on the breathing state monitoring device 3, a circuit connecting a rechargeable battery 69 and an inner power supply circuit 71 is closed, and the device 3 is in an ON state. When the breathing sensor 1 is removed, the circuit connecting the rechargeable battery 69 and the power supply circuit 71 is opened, and the device 3 is in an OFF state. The rechargeable battery 69 is charged by mounting the device 3 on a base device 42, and the circuit between the rechargeable battery 69 and the power supply circuit 71 is open when the breathing sensor 1 is removed after the measurement. Consequently, the breakage of an electronic control unit 27 is effectively prevented since a user is less likely to forget to turn off a power supply switch comparing to a case having the power supply switch separately.
