PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain higher accuracy and increase in efficiency of graphic retrieval processing. PSOLUTION: In (A), it turns out that a type Ca of shape feature quantity is not suitable as a kind of the shape feature quantity of a query graphic image Q since Euclidian distance d1q of the query graphic image Q when the kind Ca of the shape feature quantity is used for a Euclidian distance section I1 (I1=[0, d1]) regarding the kind Ca of the shape feature quantity of a representative graphic image R1 is larger than Euclidian distance d1 (d1d1q). On the other hand, in (B), it turns out that a kind Cb of the shape feature quantity is suitable as a kind of the shape feature quantity of the query graphic image Q since Euclidian distance d2q of the query graphic image Q when the kind Cb of the shape feature quantity is used for Euclidian distance section I2 (I2=[0, d2]) regarding the kind Cb of the shape feature quantity of a representative graphic image R2 is less than the Euclidian distance d2 (d2≥d2q).
