PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser having a high quality transverse mode without putting an aperture, an absorber, etc. into a laser resonator.;SOLUTION: A laser having a high quality transverse mode can be obtained by using a quasi-three-level laser system in which a lower energy level of two energy levels related to laser transition is significantly occupied on account of thermal excitation at room temperature and also by using a non-deforming laser medium, by directly exciting an upper energy level of the laser transition, and increasing a concentration and the length of the laser medium to attain 2.0 or greater in the absorbance of the laser medium.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
