PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology of prescribing a noticed face among a plurality of faces in an image without enforcing troublesome registration operations on a user. PSOLUTION: The object determining apparatus for selecting the face of a processing object among the faces included in the image includes: a face detection means for detecting the face from the image; a face information recording means that records faces detected in the past by the face detection means and the detection history associated with the detection in cross-reference with each other; and a face selection means that selects the face of the processing object among the faces included in the image on the basis of the detection history of the faces detected by the face detection means. The object determining apparatus is preferably provided furthermore with a face information update means that newly registers the face detected by the detection means when the face does not exist in the face information recording medium and updates the face information when the face exists in the face information recording medium.
