PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve accuracy of a personal authentication based on face recognition without damaging convenience of users.;SOLUTION: A personal authentication device comprises a personal authentication information memory section 130 for memorizing personal authentication information correlating position information and feature information of a face image in an image; an image input section 120 for entering a comparison image; a face image detection section 122 for detecting a face image from the image; a position information acquisition section 126 for acquiring position information of the face image in the image; a feature information acquisition section 128 for acquiring the feature information of the face image; a face authentication section 136 for comparing the feature information and the feature information included in the personal authentication information and acquiring a degree of their coincidences; a position authentication section 134 for comparing the position information and the position information included in the personal authentication information and acquiring a degree of their coincidences; and a determination section 138 for determining that a user identified by the corresponding personal authentication information and a person of the face image detected from the comparison image are the same person when the degree of coincidences of the feature information is the designated value or over and the degree of coincidences of the position information is the designated value or over.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
