PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image resolution enhancement method by which a restored image higher in definition than heretofore is generated from a low resolution image picking up consecutive images with a low-resolution CCD camera to a high-resolution image obtained when the consecutive images are picked up with a high-resolution CCD camera. PSOLUTION: The image resolution enhancement method considers a set of important images (average images) desired to be restored with high accuracy as äSBi/SB}SBi=1/SBSPI/SPamong images included in an approximation space VSBr/SBand not included in a common space included in both of the approximation space VSBr/SBand an orthocomplement VSBS'/SBof a sampling space VSBS/SB, uses a matrix X which is an operator for completely restoring images included in this function äSBi/SB}SBi=1/SBSPI/SPas a specific image complete restoration projection filter to generate a restored image fSB0/SBestimated from a low resolution image d.
