PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately output a connection functional word to appropriately translate each phrase in a sentence by referring to example data and on the other hand, to easily edit and generate example data to be used. PSOLUTION: The machine translation device has: an original language analysis means 20 for analyzing an original language text which is a text for translation; a language conversion means 30 for generating conversion data which is data obtained by converting each word and text structure of the original language text into a word and text structure in an object language; an example database 41 showing word data of a specified type of text phrase in the object language and information regarding propriety of a specified connection functional word in each text phrase; an object language generation means 40 for determining the propriety of use of the connection functional word in the conversion data by referring to the example database, setting the connection functional word at an appropriate position in the conversion data and generating an object language text which is the one of a translation result and an example database creation means 60a for automatically editing and registering example data recorded in the example database 41 based on text data in the object language.
