PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain (1) stable and high proton conductivity at a boiling point or more of water (100 to 160), (2) obtain stable and high proton conductivity under high humidity (70 to 100% relative humidity), and (3) obtain stable and high proton conductivity under high pressure (under steam of 1 atm. to 6 atm.) as a proton conductor composed of a metal oxide nano porous material. PSOLUTION: This is the proton conductor composed of the metal oxide nano porous material in which phosphorous pentoxide or a phosphoric acid group is provided in a micropore surface or a micropore structure of the metal oxide nano porous material of at least one component selected from titania, tin oxide, vanadium oxide, tungsten oxide, and manganese oxide.
