PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction characteristic evaluation method of a rubber material capable of evaluating different rubber materials including the difference of a road surface, concerning a wet friction force of each rubber material used for a tire or the like.;SOLUTION: The wet friction force F of a rubber material is expressed by expression: F=(1-Ehl)×Fa+Fh by using the first friction force Fh, the second friction force Fa and a coefficient Ehl. The first friction force Fh generated when the rubber material is slid along the road surface is determined from a profile of the wet road surface, and the second friction force Fa generated when the rubber material is stuck onto the road surface is determined from the profile of the wet road surface, and (1-Ehl)×Fa is determined by subtracting the first friction force Fh from a measurement result of the wet friction force F. By using the value and the the second friction force Fa, the coefficient Ehl for lowering the contribution of the second friction force to the wet friction force F by interposition of a water film between the rubber material and the road surface is determined.
