PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device outputting a signal for responding to a danger of approaching between a preceding vehicle and an own vehicle based on a photographed image of a camera for photographing a front side of the own vehicle. PSOLUTION: The output device successively obtains the front photographed image, detects tail lamps 31, 32 and a license plate 33 from the image and detects the area and the distance 34, 35 of these portions and a variation ratio of a scale. Further, a vehicular gap and a relative speed with the preceding vehicle are calculated based on the scale, the variation ratio of the scale, actual dimension ratio information of the previously memorized license plate and average actual dimension ratio information of the tail lamp. When it is determined that there is a danger of collision based on the calculation result, a signal for warning informing to a user and brake control is outputted. PCOPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
