PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate a stable optical millimeter wave signal by automatically controlling a bias voltage of an optical modulator.;SOLUTION: Since optical signals including an optical carrier signal fc and sideband signals fc-fh and fc+fh are output by modulating single mode laser light in an optical modulator 1 with a high frequency signal having a high frequency fh (1/2 of a desired frequency f), sideband signals fc-fh and fc+fh are extracted from the optical signal and are multiplexed, thereby an optical millimeter wave signal having the desired frequency f can be obtained. The optical carrier signal fc is extracted from the optical signal modulated in the optical modulator 1, by a third optical band pass filter 23, and a DC bias power source 4 is automatically controlled so that an intensity of the optical carrier signal fc is minimized. Thus an optimum bias voltage can be maintained, and therefore, the stable optical millimeter wave signal can be generated.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
